Have I gone overboard with string on my broad bean support?

    Very smart beds, and much better arrangement, but probably still a bit OTT. I couldn’t compete with that. I may need to work on my OCD skills.

    How many rows are you planning to plant there and how wide are the beds? Just two rows seems a bit sparse, you could get three, but how will you get to the middle row? Have you got long, flexible arms?

    I plant four rows of Aquadulce in a raised bed 120cm wide x 160cm long and they support themselves apart from a cane at each corner and a couple of rows of string looped around the perimeter, the top string no higher than waist height so easy to lean over and pick the middle rows. That’s quite a bit closer planting than recommended but so long as your soil is good you can usually squeeze more into raised beds as you can reach from either side.

    Very neat, yes Dove cats cradle came to mind, Hubby made me obelisks last year, for the beans and peas, I have got a big of plastic pea netting as well, nearly killed me, trying to unroll it, and fix it on my own.
