Low growing plant ID

Hi - still working my way round my garden trying to figure what half the stuff is!  
There are these low growing things popping up in my woodlandy / shady area - any ideas what it is?

    Looks like Hypericum sp.

    @Silver surfer I thought Hypericum sp. was "St. John's Wort" - and I have one of those growing in a different place which has much smaller leaves and is semi-evergreen ... those things above have just appeared this Spring ... ?  is this something different, or a different variety?

    There are lots of different forms of Hypericum. The one there is probably H. calcynum.

    It was probably brought in by a bird.
    I've never planted one, but they pop up here and there in my garden.
    I do like them, but they're so susceptible to rust

    Hypericum tends to seed itself very freely. I only have one plant, but would have a few dozen if I didn't keep on top of pulling out the seedlings.
    You could always pot them up and give them away to friends and neighbours.
