Hi all, hope you’re keeping well. Just thought I’d post a little update. we haven’t been out and done much lately, however, spent most of the day out there today.
My other half strimmed down the area of leeks and filled our garden waste bin with it! I’ve then dug out a section of it removing as many bulbs as I could. The previous tenant here had started using this area as a vegetable patch (possibly how the leeks originated) and the soil in this area is very dark, loose and easy to turn over (so made sifting the bulbs out quite easy). I’m thinking that she bought and used top soil or something in this area specifically for her veg patch as it doesn’t match the soil type for the rest of the garden.
I also cleared a small area where my son’s summer house is and wanted to share a pic of the soil in this area as someone had asked about the soil type! It has lots of little bits of rock and stone in so not sure if this will effect the grass seed I can use?
Have managed to clear some of the rubbish and wood that was left by previous tenant with just a few larger pieces of wood to get rid of - however difficult in current situation so this will obviously have to wait.
plan for tomorrow is to finish turning over the leek area - removing as many bulbs as possible and mowing the rest of the grass. Is there anything else I could be doing at this point?
hope you’re all well and enjoying the sun in your gardens
Also, does anyone have any experience with these composite decking tiles? Looking for a cheap and easy solution to a dining area for our patio set but don’t want to fork out too much or go to the effort of decking as we rent our property and don’t own it.
been busy clearing. Filled up both compost bins and garden waste bin. decided to do a bricked area for planting to reduce the amount of grass seeding required (only layed it out roughly, will plan the shape properly and finish it off)
Speaking of which, think we are about ready for seeding. Any recommendations for hard wearing grass seed? And roughly how much I’d need?
