    But they need to be 6ft tall at least otherwise there’s little point in growing them ... so they need a sturdy support  structure. 

    You can’t just leave them to sprawl ... in the wild they grow into a prickly mound like a blackberry bush ... they’re not self supporting. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
