Pear blossom and frost

Pete.8Pete.8 Posts: 11,340
Barely had any frosts here over winter, but just as my cordon pears are beginning to blossom, the forecast is for -2c tonight - does that warrant a covering of fleece?
Thanks

If it's an area of garden that tends to catch the frost, then I would fleece them overnight ... there's enough going wrong with the world without you losing your pears  ;)

    :) very true Dove!
They're planted on a west-facing fence at the highest point in my garden, so I hope they'll be ok, but I'll fleece them if I can find some clothes pegs to attach it to the wires.

Looking out of the window it's a perfect day today. Birds singing, not a cloud in the sky, a gentle breeze and green shoots appearing everywhere in the garden, so comforting in these distressing times.
Hope all is well with you and your family.

My grown-from-seed wisteria only started flowering about 3 years ago (after a 15+ year wait..) but has been caught by frost every single time so far and it looks like it'll happen again. :'(

    It's a beautiful day here too  :)

All is well here thanks, other than OH being on furlough waiting to see if he'll get any money, and both my offsprung being self-employed with work rapidly disappearing ... but hey ho, we're all in the same boat ...well most of us are ... I'm sure there are some who'll find a way to make this work to their advantage but, c'est la vie etc.

Hope all is good with you and yours

Yeah on the black market eh Dove, I said to my kids, (2 sons, registered disabled, carer for youngest, 2 daughters just one working big supermarket)  You cannot worry about jobs, money, just have to hope that as a family we all come through this.
