Venus Flytrap moss on compost?

Hi guys,

I have a Venus flytrap and I noticed there is what looks like moss growing on top of the compost. It sends up little spores from time to time. Should I leave it there or is it harmful to the plant?

    I have a lot more moss on my carnivorous plants, and I pinch it out when it gets too thick, as I assume (perhaps incorrectly) that it will out-compete the plants.  Yours looks fine to me for now.  If you see little moss seedheads coming up (I think they are the spores you refer to), then I would cut these off with scissors, as it will only generate more moss.

    Thanks for the info!

    I would be good for someone to confirm though for definite if the moss does need to be removed or not as I also thought it might overtake the plant!

    Fly traps get all their nutrients from their victims, so the moss does not deprive them of anything except possibly light.

    I think it's part of the growing medium so it will keep coming.

    Btw @Alan Clark2 in Liverpool they do photosynthesis too. After about three times snapping they then photosynthes for a while before dying back.
