How many years would it take to grow a Berberis from a seedling?

I have a group of Orange Rocket plants that have self-seeded. They are very striking and I would love another set. Is it worth trying to pot them up and grow them on or would I be waiting forever? I hear Berberis shrubs are pretty slow growing.

I would seriously consider potting them on ! Berberis thunbergii and its cultivars are not the fastest of the family compared to some of the evergreen forms like B . julianae .
Give them a chance , what have you got to lose ? ;)

Only the compost I can’t buy because the garden centres are closed, I guess! I will have a stab @Paul B3 in potting up in garden soil and see how they go. I can report back, but it might be some time....
