COUNCIL NOT EMPTYING GREEN BINS

Barnsley Council (South Yorkshire) are not emptying the green bins for the foreseeable future. I might take this opportunity to let my privet hedge flower this year what do you think?..

No green/brown bins here anyway.  Good compost heaps tho and a privet planted as a shrub by previous owners so it flowers.  Took me 2 years to realise it was a privet!

Some councils don't use green bins for garden waste, they use brown bins. Some councils use green bins for recycling waste.
Our green bins are for garden waste and are emptied every fortnight and mine are always full. Because of corona virus they are suspending green bin collection so I think my garden will be on the wild side this year lol

For me the perfume takes me back to sunny holidays in Brittany 😊

I'm planning to plant a privet hedge just for the flowers, short lived but very nice reminds me of life as a youngster we had lots of privet hedging (had clip it all by hand about 100mt)

My OK hates the smell of privets, actually it makes her choke. Each to their own...

Privet brings me back to my childhood.

We have brown bins for the garden, green in house hold waste and blue is recycling.  So far we have not had any notice from our council about collections being suspended

Derby city council have suspended the brown garden bin collection due to staff shortages. Not too much of a problem as I have the recycling centre near me.

I’ve been cleaning the bin handles after the bins have been emptied. I’ve just started to clean the bin handles just after I put the bins out as well.

I love privet flowers as well, takes me back to childhood, all cut with a pair of shears.

I don’t think we should ‘expect’ any services at the moment,  I think we should be grateful for anything we do get.

It smells like cat pee to me too @Papi Jo, but I love seeing the insects on it  :)

Make the most of it for your garden @harmony, and let that privet run wild!  :D
You could always use it for a compost bin anyway. I know you shouldn't make holes in it, but lots of bins gradually get wear and tear anyway, so perhaps a wee 'accidental' split  in the bottom would go unnoticed.
    Nudge nudge, wink wink ;)
