Alocasia plant dying

Over time my Alocasia plant keeps having leaves dying one by one. Today one whole section came away from the soil as if it was rotten. I initially didn't water it loads and then I thought I wasn't watering it enough. Now I just don't know what to do

    you can leave them totally dry in winter. They'll retreat back to the "bulb" and come away again in spring.

    Ryan, I'm not certain but possibly the erratic watering may have had something to do with your plant struggling. Alocasias love water but the soil should be evenly moist and not soaking wet all the time. They do go dormant during the winter and need far less water then.

    Allow the top of the soil to dry out before you add more water. I'd be tempted to lift it out of the plant pot container after each watering to make sure that there is no water standing in there. Pour any surplus away.
