Im intrigued by the dogwoods , especially the trees if I can find an evergreen variety as they look very nice and colourful as that is what I need for my front garden.
Two kinds of dogwoods - neither is evergreen. Cornus kousa types are more tree-like and perhaps too big for growing under another tree. However the cornus alba sibirica types need regular spring pruning to keep renewing their colourful stems so you get the bright red colour in winter after leaf fall which is itself colourful as the foliage turns red and purple before it falls. This also means they can be grown under the canopy of yu tree.
