Yellow skimia leaves

in Problem solving
In spite of so much rain the leaves are yellow on these plants, although only in this particular flower bed. Other skimia in the garden are ok. Any thoughts please?

    I don’t grow skimmia but I found this old thread which may help. One or two of the members have left the board and their posts have disappeared but I think you can make sense of the suggestions. 

    It might help other members to advise you if you posted a photo of your skimmia. 

    Click on the little landscape icon and follow the instructions... if your pic doesn’t upload reducing the size usually works. 😊

    Hello alison.cheers. Skimmia are not very keen on direct sunlight so if this flower bed is in a sunny position, that could be the cause of the colour change but, as Dovefromabove mentions, a picture would be a great help.

    Hi Alison. I think that your Skimmia has got too much competition from the plants around it. They will all be fighting for water and nutrients. If you could clear some of the other plants away and find spaces for them elsewhere and then add a good proprietary fertiliser it may rally. Bear in mind the aspect of the flower bed. If it is south facing the skimmia will not be happy and it looks quite exposed there.

    I'd agree that if those other plants are happy there, the skimmia probably won't be.

    They can cope with some sun if they have the right soil, and it's reasonably moisture retentive, but those grey foliaged plants like very different conditions, so the aspect of the bed is probably the issue, as much as anything. The bed is also tucked up against walls, which means a drier location, even with good rainfall. 

    You can treat yellowing foliage with Epsom salts diluted in water as a foliar feed, but that's a temporary solution only, and I feel it's the skimmia that probably needs moving to a better position, especially if you have others which are doing well elsewhere. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Skimmias really prefer a shady spot, so if you can provide that, it'll help it.
    Just make sure you follow the usual process for moving anything - well watered first, and well watered after until re established.  :)
