My seedlings are stalks only no leaves!

 Hello, I hope everyone is keeping well in this really scary time.

 I’m hoping somebody could help me explain why my seedlings have started to come up with stalks only no leaves… It’sbroad beans, tomato seedlings and aubergine …. Any help would be appreciated thank you :-)

    I wonder if there is a slug lurking under one of the trays enjoying a midnight feast. Worth checking.

     Everything was washed ready for this year and they had the lids on but will definitely check thank you. It’s really baffling  it’s happened to me once before a couple of years ago and I can’t understand why

    It is hard to tell from the photos, but they look rather like seedlings of something with strap shaped leaves, such as Iris.

    Sounds like a slug got to them.......

    It’s  three different types of tomato in one tray, aubergine in a different tray and in a different part of the kitchen in another tray is broad beans. They all had lids on them as well and were clean trays – I haven’t seen any evidence of   A slug unless there is something hiding in the actual compost itself from the bag and there happens to be one in each tray… ?  That would be really unlucky though… but  i’m at a loss about what else it could be. I’ve looked at dying off but that’s when they just flop over isn’t it…

     I know what you mean I’ve grown grass but these are definitely from the seeds mentioned above. Plus they’re too thick in the stem
    for a grass seedling... with a blunt end ... not tapered like a grass leaf would be... I’m 99.9% sure ive not mixed up my seeds ... I’ve checked for a slug but nothing! I’m baffled and disappointed!! Im
    hoping others come up ok!

    Did you sow your seeds in rows, or broadcast them over the compost?  If they were in rows you should be able to see if these seedlings are "interlopers" growing randomly in the trays - maybe a duff bag of compost complete with weed seeds??

    I broadcast

    Its 2 trays and one root trainer.

    The only common denominator is the compost... I’ll let them develop & see what happens! It’s a mystery but in my house -bound state it’s now the most excitement of my day to see if the turn into something else!!!!
