Tree combination

JoeXJoeX Posts: 1,783
I’m mulling over an idea for the back of the garden where the swings and children’s slide is, and currently an apple tree in one corner I’ve been hoping for three years will come back to life :)

So I want central interest to attract the eye when looking down the centre of the garden.  For this year I expect I’ll put an arch/seat against the fence. Behind this my neighbour has a huge unkempt evergreen tree.

Im thinking that just in front of the seat so a couple of metres from the fence;
a cluster of three trees in a triangle,

one blossoming each season,

the cherry I have in a planter blossoms now,

an acer (there’s one with bright red leaves I love, don’t know when they blossom)

something else that blossoms in May?

Im not sure if they’d need to attain the same height but aim not thinking of anything I cant maintain

Ideas?

Cheers TP

The acer I like is the red one on the left. This is it in May.

    Acer Palmatum Bloodgood, maybe?
There are many beautiful Acers, I'm spoilt for choice
Just another day at the plant...

Looks like it, I can check next time I’m in that park. Although it has quite a large spread.

Im imagining three trees about 2m apart. If the acer is red all season, and the neighbours tree gives a dark green backdrop, maybe a lighter leafed tree than the cherry?

With trees I tend more toward foliage & bark for Autumn and Winter interest.
What about something with silver foliage?
A neighbour has a mature silver leafed tree with a weeping habit, I thought it may be a yew but not sure. I'll see if I can get a pic and maybe someone can identify it.
The contrast would look great fabulous against the red Acer
