My main problem last year was the small keel slugs that had a great feast off my later potatoes and swedes. They burrow into the tubers and under the soil so you cannot get at them. When digging up the produce the little beggers are happily eating their way inside. Not sure whether to try the nematodes this year when the soil warms a little more. Would the beer traps, etc be helpful here?
From April onwards there will be pelleted nematodes available (nothing to do with me) and you simply sprinkle and then water. They will be available for slugs, ants and other insects.
It's really heart breaking when you nurse a crop to maturity and then find it's been destroyed from inside, or under the soil. I gave up trying to grow veg so I don't know if beer traps would help but I wish you luck!

I’m not sure. Hopefully someone with more experience will be able to advise.
Do beer traps work? What about garlic spraying? i'm willing to try anything
I tried beer traps last year and the slugs do love them. However, I probably had too many slugs by the time I started using the beer traps. That’s why I’m going to use both nematodes and beer traps this year. Good luck with your slug battle.
Thanks, I'll give them a go. What do you use to make your traps?, or have you bought them? I'm thinking of suitable capacity to ameliorate evaporation etc, and hold enough dead slimers. How often do you replenish the bar, every evening presumably?
