    One of my favourite birds too, although we only get them here fleetingly. All the more joyous when we do see them, for that reason.
    I'd go with @wild edges' reasoning. They're usually charging around in quite substantial numbers.

    I remember coming off a hill one day, and having a seat by the river. Just as I did, a crowd of them appeared, diving into the tree across from me. It was almost as good as the walk  ;)
    Little clouds in tracksuits.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I have a group of 5 that flit about my garden from feeder to feeder.  They are new this year and I love them.
