Growing veg in hanging baskets

in Fruit & veg
Has anyone grown courgette, cabbage or larger veg plants in hanging baskets before?  I am short of space and thought veg that take up a lot of room I could raise up. If not what veg would be best for hanging baskets? I have plastic lined hanging pots. Thank you

    A courgette in a basket would have to be fed and watered every 5 minutes in summer.  Cabbages like to be planted deep and firmed in to help prevent wind rock so not good in baskets.   I would stick to salad leaves which can be grown and harvested quickly and maybe some tumbler cherry tomatoes.   Herbs too but not woody ones like sage or rosemary.

    You could maybe try some dwarf beans, if you are able to keep them well fed and watered. You could grow purple or yellow podded ones for more interest and there is also dwarf runner bean Hestia, with red & white flowers. Only one plant per basket!

    I grow hestia runner beans in hanging baskets. They have pretty red and white flowers and can look almost ornamental.
    Some dwarf chilli peppers are good too. And tomatoes, obviously.
    I tried some peas trailing down but didn't like it, it was too tangled.
    The photo below is from our previous home (rented, pots only, very little space), I designed that wooden planter specifically for maximum utilisation of space.

    Thank you everyone for your help. I’ll have to rethink how to grow more in a small space.

    I use those black tubs you get protein shake in (no, not me, my son) for the courgettes, they are pretty big and heavy, you would need a big hanging basket.  I do grow toms and strawberries, herbs in hanging baskets, remember folks toms are actually fruit, not veg.

    I have got a book "All you can eat in three square feet) My daughter doesnt have a lot of space, I do her a pot every year, about a mtr diameter, runner beans at the back, then dwarf beans, a courgette, strawberries, inter planted with salad leaves, well, thats what I did last year, havent desided on this years yet.
