If someone famous dies of it, all hell will break loose. People can cope with anonymous 'numbers' dying, but if someone rich and famous dies ....

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Well he can't have my sons ECMO machine because it is keeping him alive at the moment.

I'm not terribly shocked he caught it, he showed incredible hubris going around shaking hands with ill patients. Seemed to think he was above catching it, as if the illness applied to other people but not him. I do hope he recovers, and gains some humility.

I do have hope that it might make him and the rest of our government understand what it feels like to feel vulnerable.

But that doesn’t mean that I don’t wish him well, because I do.

Someone famous did catch it.......Prince Charles.
And many actors and comedians  have it too.
Wishing Boris and everyone else who has this awful virus a speedy recovery.

when the government can’t persuade people to follow its advice”

That’s just not true. City centres are like ghost towns, traffic on our road has dwindled to almost nothing, the enormous majority of the population are practising social distancing and even though photos were shown at the weekend of people relaxing in Brockwell Park - and they should not have been - the two metre rule was largely followed.

Were this to be a stunt the truth would inevitably come out and that would be a political catastrophe. Not even for a second would even the zaniest advisor contemplate it. Some thoughts, pansyface, should not be vocalised. They certainly should not be written down. They are demeaning.

Not unrelated, did anyone read about the David Icke Facebook interview in which he aired again the nonsense about 5G transmitting the virus and went on to add that he thought Bill Gates should be jailed and that when a vaccine is developed it will contain nanoparticles which will allow governments to control us. And to think that man has the right to vote.

I have just been looking again at the BBC reporting of the Icke interview and one of his sympathisers (I presume) commented, “yes, metal gear, the darpa chief, quality haha”. I suppose he/she gets to vote as well.

I can't see any reason to repeat anything David Icke has ever said. On any subject. Why does he even get airtime?
I sincerely doubt that Boris's illness is any sort of hoax. It is never an aim of government to look vulnerable or unstable.

Has there been any news about Prof Whitty? He was reported as having symptoms around the same time as Matt Hancock and Boris but I've not seen any more news?

Went out today. First time in 10 days.   Hubby needed meds and had to go to co op as yesterday Tesco delivery was missing a few bits ( after three weeks you do tend to run out of things) Here people were being sensible only two in the post office, one in the pharmacy and five in the co op , so very few people about.
