Climbing rose question

Hi all, was in the garden just now, tidying up and considering pruning as it’s dry/sunny and saw this on the ends of my climbing rose. 

See images...any idea what it is, looks like wax.

    ...it's  just dead wood,... it's good practice to prune those bits out... the dark brown dead sticks... there are several there in the centre..

    It’s the waxy substance that’s on the dead wood and it’s not just on dead wood. Thanks

    If your plant was bare root when you bought it, they're dipped in wax to protect them.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    No, wasn’t a bare root. Wasn’t on the plant when I brought it last year. It’s just appeared in the last month or so. No worries, just didn’t want it to be a fungus. Thanks 😊

    ...as I said it's just normal winter dieback on roses, the silver sheathing is very common on dead canes after winter..  it's not wax..
    ...if it's on good green canes too, it sometimes is,  there's no need to do anything to those unless they prove unproductive, then they should be cut out at the base...

    ..there are several unhealthy looking bits that need to be cut out there...
