Help with my herbs

Last summer I had a lovely growth of different herbs on my patio ( rosemary, basil, thyme, chives mint and sage). I thought it was best to bring them inside and put on a sunny windowsill. The chives are doing brilliantly but the others have speckled and marked leaves, rather than healthy green ones. I have tried cutting these off, but the new growth appears to be similar. Can anyone shed any light on what is wrong with them please as am keen to sort them out.

    As indicated on your other thread, they are not indoor plants and would have been better outside on a sheltered windowsill.

    I have to overwinter both of those inside as it gets too cold for them outside. I leave them in the coldest room I have (around 10C) and only water a couple of times all winter. I would say those are suffering from the central heating, and looking at the soil it appears to have shrunk, so they have really dried out at some point.

    Herbs need to be grown in loam based compost such as John Innes types.  The fibrous, multi purpose composts are too claggy so I would advise getting some better compost for when you re-pot them.
