Olea Europa New Leaves are Weird

Hi there, I recently acquired a small one and the new leaves are weird - they are no longer thick, 'matte' and small. They are looking much like curry leaves, if I have to describe - it's thinner, shinier and large and pointier.
I'm contemplating to prune that part but if it's not putting the plant in any harm's way, I might just leave it be. Anyone has any idea what's going on with her please? Thank you.

Not enough light ; a classic symptom of etiolation (weakened or forced growth due to poor illumination) .
Olives need as much light as possible .
  • Is it inside?  Potted olive trees should really be outside unless expecting periods of -5C or below.  They won't grow properly indoors, unless somewhere unheated with plenty of light, as Paul B3 says.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • Fascinating. Interestingly, the second olea europa I have is right next to her and has no etiolation thus I wouldn't have thought it was the light issue. I suppose this particular one requires more sun? It's getting warmer now anyway so I will definitely move them out for maximum sun. Thank you!
