I like the Irish President best. He turns up for Rugby matches, and all I can think is he looks like a leprechaun.

I'd turn up for rugby matches too if I got free tickets. Glad I missed yesterday's though...
Just had a gust that seemed to shake the whole house. I think we're at the point where if it's going to break or fly away then it's already gone though.

  • Spent an interesting hour this morning clearing up building materials blown around the garden - huge thunderstorm during the night but no great damage.  A roll of loft insulation ended up in the back garden - not sure if it was blown over the bungalow...

Where we used to live until last October (Calder valley, W.Yorks) has had serious floods again, in spite of the millions spent on flood defences since Boxing Day 2015 when the last serious event occurred.  It's a narrow valley with steep sides and houses next to the canal & river... large-scale tree planting on the valley sides, leaky dams on tributaries, and a ban on burning of moorland heather might help a bit.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

A thorough review of plastic greenhouses if I ever saw one :| Not that I'm looking forward to cleaning up the broken glass from mine but at least it was only half a pane gone.

Polytunnel cover needs to go back on, shed roof needs recovering, greenhouse OK.

Lost one glass panel from my greenhouse. Not happy but could be a lot worse. All my greenhouse glass is well clipped and glazing sealant applied to frames for extra grip but Ciara still managed to dislodge one pane.
More of a inconveniences as nearest glass supplier is 20 miles away

More a side effect of Storm Dennis but it's amazing that a ship this big can just be left drifting around the oceans.
