Stick a plastic bottle over this one and they slide off. Parakeet proof too!
We live next to an ancient woodland so not surprisingly we have a rather large population of greys. We had a feeder exactly like yours that the squirrels chewed through the wire mesh on. The bottle would be a deterrent but a pretty short lived one  :D

It's on a washing line so theres nowhere for them to hang onto. One managed to do a harrier jump jet off the ground, slid off and fell flat on its back👺
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Over the years, I have been an avid bird owner. I enjoy seeing my birds fly and flutter their wings to the best of their abilities. However, the problem I often encounter is how squirrels are so determined to eat my bird’s seeds. This has cost me quite a lot because instead of feeding just my pet birds, I am also feeding the squirrels!
  • I bought a metal squirrel baffle online. It works brilliantly. Stops rats as well. £15.00. My feeders are all regular feeders, no need for cages etc. There is nowhere for squirrels to launch from to reach my feeder.
My problem is jays and magpies who strip the fat ball feeders in a matter of minutes early in the morning.
  • I use the one as shown in the link on page 1.  The other thing to do is mix some hot chilli powder in the seed.  Once the squirrels have had a taste of that,  it deters them for some time. The birds love it.
