Watering a barrel planter

Hello,

Iam currently in the process of making a barrel planter for growing strawberries. I have a 220 litre barrel and have made 30 planting pockets.

Ive researched about watering pipes and I have some 40mm and 32mm I can use. My question is instead of just having one pipe down the middle (it doesn’t seem it would hold a lot of water) could I attach it to a 2 or 5 litre water bottle pierced on the sides and bottom and have it so the water bottle would sit in the middle of the barrel.

Im unsure if this would be too much water. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,

thankyou

I maybe being thick, but what is wrong with using a watering can?

Forgive me @Steph14, but I'd agree with @punkdoc
