Community gardening assessable access

I am involved with a local community garden, we are going to include raised beds for assessable visitors including wheelchair users, we currently have grass between the beds, does anyone have any experience of using grass matting which would stabilise the grass in all weathers for wheelchairs etc, Or any other recommendations ?

I know there's a plastic grid sytem which will take a parked car. No idea what it's called or where to get it, but it's out there somewhere.
