this might keep the slugs off? lavender

My delphiniums are coming, one of them 6 inches high already. I usually find that they come up before the slugs get going so don't have much trouble.

I use the slug collars, but last year when I pruned the lavender I kept the prunings back thinking I might do home lavender bags. Well that didn't happen, but I've cut them up and put them inside the collars. As slugs don't generally like aromatics, the are still very scented and there are lots of spiky ends. The lavender stalks are hard so I don't think they will get wet and cause rot.
I wonder if this could be a useful idea for others
