Cheese plant brown mark and distorted leaves

Hi, could you tell me what may have caused this brown mark on a brand new leaf?  You can see when it opened the leaf is completely distorted.  I can not find any bugs and it’s only happened on one leaf so far. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

It could have been bug damage or physical damage if it got knocked or rubbed against something but more likely lack of humidity. The leaves are very tender at that stage so can be damaged much more easily if only a small bit dried out.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

    I agree with @wild edges
i think it looks like some sort of accidental damage. The thing is that as the leaf expands even a tiny bit of damage stretches and ‘grows’ as the leaf unfolds so it looks worse than it did originally.
    I don’t think it’s anything to worry about 😊

I forgot to ask if you mist the plant at all? I find with calathea and similar humidity loving plants that a daily mist while they have new leaves unfurling really helps especially this time of year when we have the heating on.

  • That is great, thank you. I have started misting the plant so will see if this helps new leaves. Thank you again
