Chinese Cabbage

Hints and tips please for successfully growing Pak Choi and other varieties of Chinese cabbage in The UK.

  • I have grown Chinese Cabbage and it did very well here in Cornwall. I found it more successful than ordinary lettuce, I sowed it in open ground and it can be sown much later. I like it cooked as well, shredded and cooked in a little butter.

    I shall be sowing some outside this year when days are longer and the soil is warmer but I expect trouble with slugs and snails and, if we get another spring drought, it will need watering as it doesn't like to dry out.   Never a problem in my last garden which had plentiful Belgian rain.
