I was just about to say I'd found them and eed they are mimulus! 'Magic Blotch' variety. Think I may grow some more this year as they were so fast growing and had loaaads of flowers on them.

Two areas in dappled shade: Under the Apple tree includes Astilbes, Hostas, Aquilegias, Solomon’s Seal, bluebells and Geranium Rozanne. The border includes Ferns, Acer, Fatsia Japonica, Aquilegia, Japanese Anemones - all underplanting a Elaegnus.
