Hi , it’s my first time on here so excuse me if this question has already been asked, I am wondering if it’s ok to plant two different types of Sweetcorn together in the same bed ? .Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.
@fionaathunterclose Yes you can. There will be no issue with growing more han one variety of sweetcorn in the same bed. It will probably give you a longer harvesting period too.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
The only problem might be if you were aiming to save your own seed, as it would be neither one variety nor the other. Though I suppose it is possible that your cross was at least as good or even better!
I always understood that it’s a bad idea as they cross-pollinate and neither variety will taste as it should, but can’t remember where I got that from either...

The RHS says it affects the flavour.

I sow in small peat pots in a heated propagator in mid April, (after the runner beans) and plant out in June ( again after the runners 😉).
