Mahonia

Hello, l planted a mahonia shrub 4 years ago and it has been fine growing well and healthy. This year it has turned completely red with only on section still green, could this be because it’s been quite wet this year?

    My mahonia "Charity" always turned red in winter in my last garden.   I have planted a "Winter Sun" in this garden and it goes less red but I've always assumed that was because it isn't as cold here.
    Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
