Can anyone tell what's eating my honeysuckle?

Hello Gardeners World! My honeysuckle plant is over 30 years old and over the past 2 years it has started to suffer. It gets terrible bouts of aphids attacking it in spring which I have been spraying off with a hose pipe. The leaves are still coming but they are not as green and I have noticed these little holes at the base of the trunk. If there are any P&D wizards out there please can you give me some advice?! It is likely Agrilus cyanescens (honeysuckle borer) which is present in both the US and Europe. The holes will be somewhat D-shaped if it is this.
