Growing Pickled Onions

Does anyone have a suggestion of which variety makes SMALL onions for pickling.

Sorry to mention more food !!
Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.

    You want shallots for pickling. I like the Golden Gourmet vatiety.

    No idea about variety but I also use shallots for pickling. And I use balsamic vinegar rather than malt - makes for a slightly sweeter end result.

    Paris silverskin is my onion of choice. it's a small silverskin onion especially for pickling.
    I have also had good success with using any old onion from seed and planting them in clumps of 10-15 in the same hole, the competition is so high they don't get bigger than a table tennis ball, and most are half that size.

    They were developed by the farmer whose hens lay Scotch eggs. 🐓

    Use weak vinegar for watering and then you lift them ready pickled.  When we were little my dad told me about his kipper fishing trips.  Apparently the only way to catch kippers is to hold a lighted candle underneath the boat to attract them.
