Dunnock query

I just found a Dunnock sitting on the ground in my garden. He is alert, uninjured as far as we can see, but makes no attempt to fly off. My husband picked him up and gently checked his wings, no injury there either.
We put him in our shed in a small basket with straw and left some food and water. I will check him later to see if he's improved. Didn't want to leave him where he was because of cats.
Any ideas what the problem might be?
