Bird ID

I've just seen a bird perched at the top of a sycamore .
It looked just like a very large siskin. It was bigger than a starling but smaller than a jay.  Its beak was pointy. Breast was mottled in a stripey way. It had horizontal stripes on its head, they may have been yellowish and brown, but it could've been the sun

Have a look at mistle thrushes too as they tend to make a habit of sitting on tops of trees. A lot of the thrushes are superficially similar though.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

The breast markings weren't round spots. They were more like flecks. I'm pretty sure it was a redwing.
