Wooden greenhouse

  • Thanks AnniD. Do you think it's best to get cedar then and not some other wood?

@Lottolearn, my personal opinion is yes, go for cedar, although others may have a different opinion  :)
My advice is to shop around,  if you can see them "in the flesh" rather than just online or in a catalogue so much the better. They can be really expensive,  but try and get the one at the top of your budget, as l feel it really is a case of you get what you pay for. It's a big expenditure so take your time and remember,  the January sales are starting soon !
  • I have a 5yo Woodpecker combi greenhouse/shed and it still looks pretty new. Raised up on a concrete pad so not in soil contact. I found them very helpful too.

My dad built a cedar greenhouse in 1963.
It lasted until the late 90's

Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.
  • Thanks everyone. Seems cedar is the way to go. Anyone have any experience of Swallow greenhouses? Not cedar so interested to know if anyone has any experience of them.

Don’t overlook the accoya wood and aluminium mix found in Cultivar greenhouses as recommended upthread by the Enduring Gardener. I have a Cultivar greenhouse and think it is fabulous.
