    Except that he was a climate change denier, which I never quite understood how he could square with his interest in conservation. 

    He opened a community garden I was involved with in the 80’s and although delightful he seemed to be barking mad!

    Being a bit different (aka barking mad) is what makes you memorable.......and thats the source of the inspiration.  Will remember him fondly.
