Seaweed

Read somewhere that seaweed is good to control slugs , but does the salt in it not harm the soil.

    Seaweed is full of minerals and doesn’t contain salt (I use it instead of salt!).  And seawater is only about 3% salt.  If you plan to collect your own seaweed then look up good practice so you don’t harm the foreshore.

  • Not sure about the slugs being deterred. We collected seaweed for the asparagus patch and Put it on top to compost down. 
    Its a good job we did as there were a load of plastic line, netting and bits when it did. Wear good strong gloves to pick it up. Valerie
