I have a chcolate vine which fruited last year, however i have had nothing this year.Do they fruit every other year?
Is that Akebia? I've only had flowers once and never fruit.
I wouldn't put tapioca in my mouth either.
My akebia grows like mad, plenty of leaves but that's about all
I have chopped mine right back this year.It was blocking out too much light.
It's a bit of a taker over.
I've PMd you David
Ours flowers well every year, but only produced fruit once. We cut it back to the trellis every year to keep it in bounds.
I am tempted to dig it out and start again with various clematis and honey suckles.
Akebia quinata has male flowers and female flowers.

Male flowers of white Akebia...
To get the seed pods/fruits you need 2 clones to get cross pollination.

i dont understand that it can produce fruit as there is only one plant?
Maybe someone in your neighbourhood has one as well.
