    Ante - Postal Voting Papers.
In England when there is any sort of election be it General or Local Councils then some schools are used as Polling stations where people go on Election Day to make their votes. If it is difficult to get to a Polling Station, or if you prefer (this is my choice), you can register to make your vote by post. The ballot papers are sent out to you with a list of the local candidates, you place your vote and post the papers back. You have to follow a set of instructions as to how to place the voting papers inside one envelope, that goes inside another envelope and you send it free post back to the Council Offices. Postal votes are made before the actual voting day.
Cheers T'Bird. I've had to cancel my squash team lunch tomorrow as well. Now I'll have to write the addresses on all the cards I hoped to hand deliver!

Thank LB. It's same here except this one thing. My school is always Polling station.

Sorry T'Bird, I've just echoed what you wrote to Ante about postal voting
M-U those essential oils sound wonderful. I wonder if I could cope wth them rather than the chemically formed scented candles. I have never heard of Petitgrain though so where does that originate? I can't be bothered to Google it You, as a qualified aromatherapist, will give me a far better definition anyway.

LB - 😷 Gin is a good cough suppressant. OK - it's not really - but what the heck?😁

MU - Essential oils sound like the 'shell gold' I've put on Santa's list for Christmas for manuscript illumination. It's pure gold which has been ground down & mixed with a suitable medium before being dried into a tiny block. You then use it in the same way as  watercolour paint, reconstituting it with a wet paint brush. You can then burnish it to a nice shine.

A little easier to use than gold leaf but time consuming to make and an expensive raw material - so a tiny block (about the size of a small finger nail) is nearly £40....😬

Thanks for the explanation M-U. Those scents sound delicious. I might pick your brains about essential oils soon.

I would like to have a C*********y smell in the house. I had even thought of the old sticking cloves in oranges trick but I think those oils you have mentioned M-U are perhaps a bit more intense.

Evening Runners. Well like a good Nan you rose to the occasion and I'll bet that the staff - and children enjoyed your contributions.

Thanks for the suggestions M-U. Orangey scents are a favourite scent of mine. Can anyone remember Aquamanda?

  • Evening everyone, thank you all for your birthday wishes for OH.
We've had a lovely day with our boys, dils and poppets.  OH was so surprised that sons took time off work for today, his face was a picture and it meant so much to him. A much better birthday than this time last year.
