Morning all. Well he's just been and I informed him that the flu had collapsed and it wasn't mixing properly and also the condensate pipe needs, as MU says, de sludging. A few ladida didas, him not me, and he concluded I needed a new flue. He said I'll get him to get you one and asked him if he'd ring me as I'll only be a moment away and then he was gone before I had chance to ask him how long it will be. I have my mobile at my side at Rubees.
Rebecca - whoever installed your boiler is failing in their duty of care. What happened about flushing out the system that was mentioned on Wednesday? I think you should be contacting the installers and getting in touch with the Trades Description people. This part of the Act fits your problem:
(1)A trade description is an indication, direct or indirect, and by whatever means given, of any of the following matters with respect to any goods or parts of goods, that is to say—
(a)quantity, size or gauge;
(b)method of manufacture, production, processing or reconditioning;
(c)composition;
(d)fitness for purpose, strength, performance, behaviour or accuracy;
(e)any physical characteristics not included in the preceding paragraphs;
(f)testing by any person and results thereof;
(g)approval by any person or conformity with a type approved by any person;
(h)place or date of manufacture, production, processing or reconditioning;
(i)person by whom manufactured, produced, processed or reconditioned;

LB thank you for the information. I've just received a call from the gas co. Apparently it's being sorted on Monday between 8am and 5pm. Its like Chinese whispers passing on info and then explaining again in person. Hopefully it will be resolved on Monday. Enjoy your canasta.
Rebecca, the situation with your boiler is a damn disgrace. In this day nobody should be left without heating and hot water. It's just as well you live near your mum.
M-U, hope you get to Fyvie castle with or without the minstrel. T'bird, agree that parking charge is too steep if you were only going to be there for a couple of hours. Chive and Ante, enjoy your weekend off away from the school children.
Well I went in and had a little mooch round the market. Absolutely heaving near the abbey but the supermarket car park was only half full because most locals avoid the town centre like the plague during the fair days.
A couple of hours is not long enough to fully enjoy the fair - but it was long enough for me to do what I needed to and get a flavour of the fair. Quite literally as there are lots of foodie stalls with free samples😋 Think there were at least 6 local small gin distillers. Would have been nice to have tried their free samples but (as I was driving) I resisted. A lot of flavoured gins - I'm really not too keen on those.
Rebecca - on your behalf - I despair. Who put this boiler in for you? Was it British Gas or another company? Did you organise it or was it a landlord or Housing Association? If it was one of the latter you really need to get on to them because there may be other tenants with similarly dodgy / dangerous installations and they need to know about it.
I think it was Pansy who flagged up Corgi. I assume the original engineer was Corgi registered? I think that organisation would be very interested to know of the poor (even dangerous) job done by a registered engineer. I believe Corgi are one of the few tradesmen's organisations who take their responsibilities quite seriously.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Afties all. Played two games of Canasta, partner and I got trounced in the first game which only lasted 40 minutes so we had time for another one and we won that. I was glad to get home because I'm not keen on driving in the dark now and it had started to pour down. T'Bird drunk in charge of a bike? I can't see it. Hello Runners - its Rebecca with the dickey boiler not Ruby.

T'bird, shame about missing out on the gin samples. Pity you couldn't have taken your bike and wobbled back home.
LB - Glad you had a good game (good game, Nice to see you, to see you nice...). It's just started to rain here too. And it's gone cold again.
