Yew Hedge

Hi all,

Any idea why this Yew hedge has turned brown in just this particular area?

We have taken this hedge on this year and aware it could be as a result of many reasons like disease or poor pruning but anything we can do to try recover it?

anyone have any advices or experiences ?

thanks as always for any feedback

They isn't much you can do to recover it only in time will it possible fill back in, is the wood dead where its gone brown ? It could be a water problem ? broke drain are something or possible Phytophthora root rot . I suggest you look up Phytophthora and have a look yourself .

Or possibly the opposite? Lack of water from the very dry periods last summer and this that many areas experienced. Some areas didn't have very high rainfall over last winter either, so the problem can be compounded. Many mature trees/shrubs etc didn't show signs until this year.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
