monstera grooming

Hi ! I have a monstera growing wild in my flat I would love advice on how to keep him groomed and happy ! the leaves are beautiful so i dont want to cut much off but i don't know how to keep him supported as he's growing outwards all over. we've been using strings to keep him tied to poles but i dont think thats the way to do it ?
