I’m glad. Let us know if you’re able to find what you need. You’re not the first person in the US to ask us that question, and if you let us know what you’re able to get then we’ll be better able to help the next person.

    Good luck 🤞

I don’t know anyone who uses chicken grit Kathy . I only ever use horticultural grit and that’s not often .
Thanks.  btw i found this old post  https://www.houzz.com/discussions/1827602/making-soil-with-chicken-grit. I'm experimenting with the chicken grit from a local feed store to see what happens. ;)

I may be wrong, as my memory is terrible, but i think this was mentioned on a cactus forum. Chicken grit can contain crushed shells, not good if you have lime hating plants.

From my time as a small-holder with a flock of chickens … I bought two types of chicken grit … a soluble oyster shell grit which the laying hens need in order to produce sturdy eggshells, and a flinty/granite based insoluble grit which all poultry need for their gizzards in order to be able to digest their food … it’s the second type that can be used for planting … the first would be useless as being soluble it would dissolve when the plants are watered.

ETA  a better explanation of poultry grits here
