Plant dying need advice please

hello colleague at work asking me to revive their plant. I’m pretty sure water logged as top of leaves appear soggy. Think as no healthy stems if I cut back it won’t grow back! But reckon its too late to revive anyway. Any advice appreciated. Many thanks. Sharon.

    Looks prett far gone to me but sometimes they can throw out new shoots from lower down so I would just let it dry out for a while and, if it does, prune back the stem to just above the new shoot.  Keep it in a well lit spot, minimum 10C, for the winter but don't let it be in strong direct sunlight if it survives to next summer.

    Oops I’ve culled and taken one stem off to see if I can grown some fresh roots in water. That was the best of the bunch but like you think it’s had it! Most stems were hollow or squidgy....

    I think it could've been re-potted too deep and that, coupled with the overwatering, will have rotted the stems.

    It might sprout from the bottom in due course.  I’d be inclined to just scrap a bit of the compost from the base - half an inch deep and an inch all the way round. I say this because it might have been planted too deeply.

    id then leave it for a week or so in case the compost needs to dry out, then chop off the remaining stalks
