After reading the positive comments here I bought two Bulldog Long Handle Digging Forks - PGDF32. I'm not sure what the other reviewers are doing with them, but I broke both handles within ten minutes of getting in the garden. A complete waste of money.
What were you doing with them?
I've had a Bulldog fork for about 20 years and had no problems.
As mentioned above they have a lifetime guarantee, so contact Bulldog

It's been a couple of weeks now. Both PGDF32 forks have been replaced by the on-line retailer (Toolchimp Limited) and the manufacturer (Bulldog), without  issue.

I broke both of the original forks within ten minutes, digging in a light sand soil. There are stones and rocks here, like everywhere, but in the ten minutes it took to break both forks no significant force was used. The PGDF32 is simply rubbish and not up to the job.I suspect the handle is softwood.

The manufacturer recommend a replacement from the Bulldog Premier range - these are made in Wigan. I got two Bulldog Garden forks -  32", FSC Ash YD shaped handle 5704043220. There was a small additional charge, about £7 for the two units. The retailer facilitated the replacement. The replacements arrived within a week and appear sturdy and durable. I've used one for a couple of hours without issue. It was a pleasure to use.

The two items, original and replacement, are as different as chalk and cheese.

I would recommend Bulldog's Premier range based on the "FSC Ash TD" units received, but definitely not any of the other product range. In my opinion, the PDGF32 is of no use whatsoever to a serious gardener. If you are buying them in a shop, check for the made in Wigan label.

Although I'm please to find that Bulldog do offer excellent tools made in Wigan, I am concerned that they will damage their hard-won reputation by selling sub-standard tools made elsewhere.

Based on my customer experience, I am happy to recommend both Bulldog and ToolChimp, with the reservations noted above. It wasn't a smooth a purchase as I would have liked, but worked out in the end.

The fork and spade I have both have the ash handle.
Glad you got it sorted and good to hear retailers are playing fair in this instance.

It’s good to hear that you’ve got satisfactory forks at last @david.entwistle33943 and thanks for that detailed resumé of the problem.

As you say it does sound as if the PGDF32 really are not fit for purpose. Hopefully Bulldog will deal with this issue.

    Thanks for the update. 😊
