Bit of dappled shade is the best location, and out of harsh winds/strong sun if possible too. You can plant a potted specimen [of anything] at any time, unless the ground conditions are unsuitable, ie waterlogged or frozen. Prep the planting hole first and water in well, and then water if needed until established. Make sure you plant at the same level as it is in the pot. If repotting, don't go up too big a size. An inch or so is about right.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
@Davewalsh29: when planting out (or repotting), it's always a good idea to 'tease out' the rootlets - any tendency to travel in a circular motion will persist unless the habit is interrupted. No need to be brutal - fingers or a kebab skewer will do the job! The small roots will thus soon find their way into the surrounding compost & will result in reinvigorating the growth of new shoots & leaves. Good luck & enjoy the fine specimen that you have. *(I gave three of mine their 'freedom' a couple of years ago & they
have doubled in size here in bosky coastal SW Wales - mild but also fairly wet n'windy!!).
Thanks @Fairygirl and @David Matthews2 Will look after if for the winter and hopefully I'll be in a position to set it 'free' next year if I can crack into the garden over the holidays 😀
