Cycling and gardening

Hi all,
Anyone use their bicycle to shop at nurseries and garden centres?
Ive been cycling a long time but only recently got one with front and rear racks, tough enough to carry heavy loads. I can’t figure how I’d strap say a sack of fertiliser or compost on the back, and carrying plants in panniers doesn’t sound like a great idea. A basket front and back might work for small to medium plants I suppose.
So if you do this, how do you go about it?
(Weight will not be a problem)

I have no car so use my trusty shopping trolley for things I can manage.
For the things I can't I get them delivered.
