Rose leaves gone weird...?

I've got a number of roses whose leaves have all gone spindly and weird looking. Can anybody tell me what it is and what I can do about it please? I'm trying to attach an image so you can see what I mean.

Ignore the timberwork in the background. I've just pruned a bit off the plant to make it easier to photograph and stuck it in the bench slats!

    The RHS "Garden" magazine this month had an article on "rose rosette virus" which looks similar .
    " search 'New pests and disease risks' at rhs.org.uk"

    ...that's herbicide damage... somebody has been spraying near you...

    :)  Thanks for that info. The garden that these are in backs onto a large arable field. I did spot the sprayer trekking back and forth a few weeks ago. That would seem to have solved my query!
