ID for little flower please.

Saw this little flower all on its own on a scrubby grassy bank near the supermarket.
It is about 8" tall and I assume it is a garden escapee rather than wild?
Very pretty!  <3

Flowers look a bit like a Verbascum. Could it have been mown, making it grow lots of little spikes ? There do look to be some bigger old leaves at the bottom.

It probably has been mown but the leaves are really quite small, the biggest is about 1" long.
I had thought it may be some sort of Evening Primrose (even though it was out at midday!).

    Think I have found it!
Looks like Verbascum blattaria or Moth Mullein.
Thanks @Buttercupdays for pointing me in the right direction.

  • Those are the leaves on the flowering stem though. Look at the the ones on the right hand side, flat to the ground, and a couple on the left too, much bigger with jagged edges...
The flowers do look rather like evening primrose, but those have long, thin leaves and thin, pointy flower buds.
  • It's pretty - keep an eye on it and you might be able to get some seeds!
