    Schizotstylus coccinea.
    Often called Kaffir lily.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Apologise for the Telegraph link but here's an interesting piece around the name change. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gardening/9690220/Botanical-identity-crisis-solved.html

Very easy to grow from seed, I’ve  got about 20 plants from this Springs seed sowing.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Thank you all, my friend said that, but when I looked it up it said that it’s in bloom from spring to the first serious frosts, so I didn’t think it could be that as it only came into bloom this last 2 weeks?..... so that’s very late. Any ideas why or if the info is wrong?
  • The info is wrong. It normally starts to flower at the end of summer.
  • I was given some of these - in the green, from a friend, I think they are the same @suecurnow and mine have just started to flower in the past couple of weeks - with more flowering shoots appearing now.
